Nature.. Human Nature.. ?

A wise man always told me.. learn from nature.. It has so much to teach..

Nature’s flexibility can be seen in a simple blade of grass which bends with the force of strong winds.. and its strength can be seen in the fact that the same blade of grass stands up again with all its dignity intact even after being ravaged by strong winds.. A tree even though much stronger than a blade of grass, breaks with the force of the wind because it refuses to be flexible and to bend.. Does it not teach us then that flexibility is a virtue that will always triumph..

I see the compassion of nature when its precious trees stand in the blazing sun yet have the potential to provide shade to everyone else around.. Isn’t it also amazing that one seed seemingly small and lifeless has the potential of becoming a full fledged tree, which can bear leaves, fruits and flowers.. can satisfy hunger, provide shade, and satisfy so many more human needs.. It makes me realize that one should never doubt the potential of someone who may seem weaker then oneself today.. for tomorrow that person may become a force to reckon with.. More importantly it makes me realize the potential within… There is a force within each person that can be honed enough to become a power, the magnitude of which cannot be estimated today..

Nature’s humility humbles me when I see a tree laden with fruit lower its' branches towards the ground to become more accessible to us, whereas we with each success tend to become more inaccessible to the masses. Its ability to co-exist as an arid piece of land, a humongous water body, icy glaciers and tropical rain forests and still be a part of a harmonious eco system amazes me. It makes me think why we can’t reside peacefully being from different ethnic backgrounds..

It is nature that gave us the night, but to protect us from the darkness it gave us the moon and the stars.. It made the Sun powerful enough to be able to reflect its light towards the moon and the moon accepting and generous enough to absorb it and then reflect it back at us.. It makes me think.. when we become powerful enough, do we pass on our energy and power into other people to help them.. or do we ever take out the time to act selflessly as a medium between two people.. one who has the energy and the other who needs it in their moment of darkness..

Sometimes I wonder at nature’s tolerance with us when we in our attempt to use nature for our gain, end up abusing it... I even admire the strength of it’s’ retaliation when after extreme callousness on our part, it punishes in the form of earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and droughts. It teaches us that pushing anything beyond a point will only come back to us in a vicious way. In its own way nature teaches us that literally and figuratively what we sow is truly what we reap...
